Strzelecki 550

Our smallest Winjana RV, the Strzelecki 550, is named after the rough and arid Strzelecki Desert in northern South Australia, and borders Queensland and New South Wales. These outback conditions are perfect for the Strzelecki van’s offroad ability. The 475km Strzelecki Track passes through the Strzelecki Desert and runs from Lyndhurst to Innamincka. Just make sure you are self-sufficient before starting out on the track – water, food, and fuel are all key essentials!

Some of the key attractions along the Track include the rolling sand dunes, Ochre Cliffs, wildflowers, and the sandstone ruins of Blanchewater Station. Although there are no facilities, Montecollina Bore is a popular location to both visit and camp. You can also take a slight detour out to Cooper Creek to camp and to visit the nearby Dig Tree where explorers, Burke and Wills, passed through on their expedition.

We were also inspired by the Strzelecki National Park located on Flinders Island in Tasmania. If you’re visiting this part of the country, make sure to include this on your sight-seeing list. You can see beautiful beaches, climb Mount Strzelecki, and have the opportunity to spot a wombat or echidna!

Ormiston 630

The second smallest of our Winjana RV fifth-wheelers is the Ormiston 630. Its name derives from Ormiston Gorge that is located in the Northern Territory, west of Alice Springs in the Tjoritja / West MacDonnell National Park.

The towering red walls are a key feature of Ormiston Gorge. There is also a permanent waterhole (most waterholes are extremely cold, so swimming is highly recommended for the warmer months), and walking tracks to explore the spectacular scenery. You can even do overnight walks. The campground is accessible by caravans and there are gas barbecues, toilets, and shower facilities. Onsite bookings and payments are made through an honesty box or at the kiosk where you can also purchase basic supplies.

Kalbarri 690

Our Kalbarri 690 is named after the Kalbarri National Park in Western Australia. The Park is located about 1.5 hour’s drive north of Geraldton, and is well-known for its scenic gorges and coastal cliffs. There are Park entry fees, so make sure to check out this information before you go.

The Park’s facilities include entry station, lookout/deck, toilets, and barbecues. Some popular activities to do are picnicking, sightseeing, bushwalking, and abseiling. Canoeing is also an option after heavy rains, but you must have experience and contact the park rangers prior. And if you’re okay with heights, you can venture out onto the Kalbarri Skywalk – a lookout suspended over the edge of a 100-metre-high drop that showcases the spectacular views!

Cattai 760 – Cattai National Park in New South Wales

The Cattai 760 is our largest and longest van, and is also Australia’s first hybrid caravan. The name of this van was inspired by the Cattai National Park in New South Wales, located approximately 60km north-west of Sydney.

There is a small daily park entry fee, but it’s well worth it for exploring the historic sites, and the canoeing, bike riding, fishing, and bird watching activities. The Park’s facilities include amenities, picnic tables, barbecues, and showers. You can also stay at the Cattai Campground as there are caravan sites available. Just make sure to book before you go!
