Canadian Spruce best choice for Winjana

Why Canadian Spruce is best…

Winjana RV only uses Canadian Spruce for their 5th-wheeler van frames. Canadian Spruce is used because it is used in manufacturing airplanes (where the name “Spruce Goose” comes from) – where flex is very important. Spruce is very light and very strong; it is a far superior timber to Meranti, which is what is normally used locally in Australia. The spruce frame is stapled using diversion point staples (minimum staples needed), then bonded to the inner ply surface – this gives strength and rigidity, but also allows movement and flex. The outside is traditional sheeting, which moves and ‘chatters’ with the spruce framing. The spruce framing also ties in with the use of spruce internally for the furniture framing.
